Jerry Holland

Chairman and Founder

Jerry Holland is an industry leader, aviation pioneer, and current Chairman, CEO, and founder of the third generational family-owned company, Sheltair. Fresh out of the United States Air Force in 1963, Jerry started his construction business in Florida, Holland Builders, initially focused on single-family homes, but soon expanded to include multi-occupant residential buildings and commercial projects. During the late 1970’s, Jerry found an opportunity to add airport property development to his company portfolio by executing projects at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. These developments would give birth to Sheltair while also marking the start of his legacy in the general aviation industry.

As Jerry expanded the company by building and leasing aviation properties across multiple Florida airports, he gained appreciation for the FBO business. In 1986, Jerry made a leap into FBO ownership by acquiring Walkers Cay Aviation at the Fort Lauderdale International Airport. Under Jerry’s ownership the FBO was renamed Fort Lauderdale Jet Center, and later rebranded by merging its name with Sheltair.

Jerry’s determination in growing his FBO business brought him to add a second FBO location shortly after at the Daytona International Airport. Sheltair FBO bases quickly gained a national reputation for their superior customer focus and service-driven corporate culture. Sheltair’s early success allowed Jerry to continue acquiring and developing new FBOs and properties through the 1990s and 2000s, leading to Sheltair’s modern day presence at 23 airports, where it operates 16 FBOs, and manages over 4 million square feet in real estate.

Jerry Holland aimed to build Sheltair around the values of service, safety, integrity, efficiency, and quality. Today, those are the same core values in which Sheltair prides itself in how it conducts business. Over the years, the company has received the highest accolades in the industry, most recently ranking best in business in the AIN FBO survey for 2021.

Jerry began a well-thought leadership transition plan to continue his vision for Sheltair to remain a vibrant and prosperous family-owned business. In 2020, he appointed his daughter Lisa Holland as President of Sheltair. His grandson, Kai Seymour, joined the family business months later, after his Bachelor’s in Business Management at the University of Tampa.
