Eleven Sheltair locations will host Girls in Aviation Day events as the company builds on a record-breaking 2025

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — September 3, 2026 — Sheltair Aviation will once again open its hangar doors to the next generation of aviation professionals as the company joins Women in Aviation International (WAI) chapters across the country in celebrating the 12th Annual Girls in Aviation Day on September 19, 2026.

Building on a record-breaking 2025 that welcomed nearly 10,000 attendees across Sheltair-supported events, the company will host Girls in Aviation Day celebrations at 11 locations throughout Florida and Georgia, with a goal of reaching even more young people and families in 2026.

This year’s Sheltair-hosted events will take place at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (KSAV), Jacksonville International Airport (KJAX), Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (KECP), Daytona Beach International Airport (KDAB), Melbourne Orlando International Airport (KMLB), Orlando Executive Airport (KORL), Ocala International Airport (KOCF), Tampa International Airport (KTPA), St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (KPIE), Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (KSRQ), and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (KFLL). Sheltair team members from Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (KBJC) in Colorado and Denton Enterprise Airport (KDTO) in Texas will also participate in local WAI chapter events in their communities.

Working alongside local WAI chapters and aviation organizations, Sheltair locations will provide spaces where young people can experience aviation firsthand. Programming varies by location and includes aircraft displays, hands-on educational activities, demonstrations, and opportunities to meet professionals representing careers throughout aviation and aerospace.

“Girls in Aviation Day represents everything we love about this industry — the opportunity to share our passion, open doors and show young people that there is a place for them in aviation,” said Lisa Holland, President of Sheltair Aviation. “Nearly 10,000 people joined us last year, but what makes these events truly meaningful is seeing a young person discover an aircraft, meet someone working in aviation or learn about a career they never knew existed. Those moments can inspire dreams that last a lifetime.”

From pilots, maintenance technicians and engineers to air traffic controllers, airport professionals and aviation business leaders, Girls in Aviation Day showcases the wide variety of opportunities available throughout the industry. By bringing those careers together in an interactive environment, the events help make aviation more accessible to young people who may otherwise have limited exposure to the industry.

Individual events also reflect the unique aviation communities surrounding each Sheltair location. At Sheltair Tampa, for example, more than 40 aviation organizations are expected to participate alongside aircraft displays and hands-on activities. Astronaut Sharon Hagle will also participate in the event, sharing her experience traveling to space and encouraging attendees to explore the possibilities available in aviation and aerospace.

Girls in Aviation Day was established by Women in Aviation International in 2015 to introduce young people to aviation and aerospace. Now in its 12th year, the international initiative brings together WAI chapters, corporate members, aviation organizations and volunteers for events around the world.

For Sheltair, supporting Girls in Aviation Day is an opportunity to use its facilities and industry relationships to help connect the next generation with aviation. The company is proud to continue working with WAI chapters throughout its network and the many organizations and volunteers that make each local event possible.

With 11 host locations and Sheltair participation in two additional communities, KBJC and KDTO, the company looks forward to building on the momentum of 2025 and making Girls in Aviation Day 2026 its most impactful year yet.
